She Leads

YWCA GB launched the She Leads grant in 2019 with the aim to provide funding, leadership and advocacy opportunities to young women from the United Kingdom.

Currently the grants are for organisations who work to empower young women who are currently underserved in the area of leadership development.

Young women and girl’s transformative leadership:

Ensuring the full implementation of a human rights-based approach to young women and girls’ leadership in the context of shared, transformative and intergenerational leadership.

Realising human rights:

YWCA women, young women and girls become the driving force in claiming and influencing women’s rights policies, leading change and setting priorities for Young Women’s leadership and realising human rights.

The fund prioritises grants to organisations or individuals who:

  • Work with young women aged 15 -30 years old.

  • Work with young women who are usually overlooked for leadership opportunities or in decision making processes.

  • Work to promote young women's leadership and advocacy.

  • Fully complete the Application Form (all requirements fulfilled).

She Leads fund for 2020-21

As 2019 was our first time running the She Leads grant, we are taking a moment to properly evaluate and reflect on the impact of the 2019 round of funding. Also, we are working to respond to the new pressures that COVID-19 has placed on our grant recipients and the young women they work with. Watch this space!
