What we do

Advocacy

YWCA GB works to influence policies, regulations and norms which obstruct the rights and leadership potential of women, young women and girls. We bring the voices of young women and girls to the decision-making table. YWCA GB creates opportunities for learning and development of young women in advocacy skills and policy analysis.

Through She Leads grants, YWCA GB is able to fund grassroots projects across the UK which develop young women’s leadership skills and their capacity to influence real change in their communities.

Today the YWCA is a global movement working for the empowerment, leadership and rights of women, young women and girls in more than 120 countries.

As a member of a global movement YWCA GB is committed to ensuring women, young women and girls are aware of, and are able to claim their rights.

YWCA GB supports young women to advocate for their rights at global, regional and national policy-setting platforms such as the Commission on the Status of Women and the Human Rights Council.

Partnerships

In order to do our work we need to have many relationships with individuals, organisations and official and unofficial entities. This requires us to build relationships with a variety of organisations, institutions and other actors (including the corporate sector), who have an impact on the changes we are seeking. These inclusive partnerships are built upon principles and values, a shared vision, and shared goals.
